This charger is one of the only remaining Nickel Cadmium chargers left in circulation. A few years ago Black & Decker discontinued the use of the older style of batteries that were Ni-Cd. For example the A18, A12. Because so many people still have these batteries they have kept this charger but discontinued the other chargers.

If you have the A12 A14 A18 A1718 battery, then this is the charger you need.
