Drive belts are a commonly replaced part in many power tools, as over time they can stretch, fray, shred, perish and eventually snap. Changing the belt is usually a relatively simple process and is good practise to check your drive gears as you do. When one or the other starts to wear it causes slippage and overheating which compounds and creates more problems. Keep a spare close by and your machine running at its best.
