The 733209 base plate for the Elu MVS500 Random Orbit Sander is the hook-and-loop (Velcro-style) backing pad to which the abrasive sanding discs are attached. 
Its primary function is to secure the Sandpaper. The hook-and-loop surface allows for quick and easy attachment and removal of compatible sanding disc.
