The hammer/impactor is the part that give the machine its name. The motor drives a cam shaft, which in turn drives the hammer/impactor and anvil. When the machine is put under load, the hammer/impactor is engaged with a heavy duty spring mechanism and causes the intense drive and rattle that impact machines are well known for.
